  Spectacular white-sand beaches adorn the coast of Sutherland, with clear waters, and often not another soul to be seen. Pictured here are Achmelvich, some 5 miles from Inverkirkaig, and Oldshoremore, about an hours drive to the North. To the south of Ullapool is the magnificent Gruinard bay, and just beyond that, even more beautiful is the beach of Melon Udrigle. Further lovely beaches can be found at Clashnessie, Clachtoll and at Achiltibue.
